Akbar Shamji

Akbar Shamji is a visionary leader at the intersection of renewable energy, advanced technology, and sustainability. With a career defined by innovation, Akbar has played a pivotal role in driving clean energy solutions across diverse sectors, from large-scale solar projects to cutting-edge AI-powered data centers.

Akbar's journey in the renewable energy space began with his leadership at CPEC, where he restructured the organization into a key player in India and South Asia’s renewable energy landscape. Under his guidance, CPEC became a force in sustainable energy, launching transformative projects like CPEC Solar Engineering—now known asOMC Power—helping to pioneer solar energy solutions in the region.

Building on his success in renewable energy, Akbar founded Bitzero, a pioneering blockchain technology firm, where he set a global ESG benchmark for blockchain infrastructure, data hosting, and cryptocurrency mining. Within its first year, Bitzero raised over $75 million in investment, driving innovation with high-voltage grid connections that enabled the expansion of large-scale, zero-carbon data processing operations. This venture further reinforced his commitment to environmental sustainability while addressing the technological demands of the blockchain and cryptocurrency space.

Following the success of Bitzero, Akbar has since led the development and successful sale of clean energy data projects in the United States. Such data centers have become critical infrastructure for powering AI applications with zero-carbon energy, underscoring his forward-thinking approach to merging technology with renewable energy.

Currently, Akbar is at the forefront of the deep nanotechnology space, where he is developing solar and battery cell production facilities within the U.S. These projects are designed to meet the country’s growing demand for domestically-produced clean energy technologies while reducing reliance on toxic rare earth materials in the energy mix. By leveraging advanced nanotech solutions, Akbar continues to push the boundaries of innovation in the renewable energy sector, driving greater sustainability and energy independence.

Earlier in his career, Akbar’s leadership extended to strategic governmental roles, including serving on a climate-focused think tank in Beijing and advising governments inChina and India on critical energy and environmental policy decisions. He also has a background in property development, where he successfully completed major projects in London in partnership with leading development funds.

Akbar holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in History from the University ofCambridge. His diverse expertise and continued commitment to sustainable innovationposition him as a noteworthy figure in the renewable energy and technology sectors.
